Park Road Books

Saturday, August 25th 1:00pm, Park Road Books, Charlotte North Carolina
Author Meet and Greet/Premiere Public Signing.

Park Road Books has been voted Charlotte's best bookstore for 20 years in a row, and the reasons why became apparent with the first public signing of TWINKLESPUNK.

Park Road customers have a loyal following. This became obvious when many readers who came into the bookstore would say that this is the only bookstore they shop at. Why is that? Well, it may be for the same reason that the first public signing of TWINKLESPUNK was made at the bookstore.

This bookstore is run by people who read and know books, and the people who enter to browse or chat don't always have a lot of time to try new things. Rather than being force-fed a stack of books pushed by major publishers, the bookstore has an expansive selection of both bestsellers and minor sellers and a staff who knows how to direct readers to their best options.

Park Road Books truly accomodates the small publisher, rather than just saying they do. They accomodated a book signing for TWINKLESPUNK before any press hit about the book. They accepted the book in a split-second, and instead of a don't-call-us-we'll-call-you attitude, they gave immediate product placement.

The signing was a success not just because it exceeded the author's and bookstore's expectations of sales, but because it allowed the author and publisher to see firsthand what good business really means.

Book Launch

Saturday, August 11th 7:00pm, Charlotte North Carolina
      Book Launch and Author Signing.

Having a celebration to launch TWINKLESPUNK was the perfect event to boost the excitement of getting this title out. It was also a chance to get local friends and neighbors together to have a good time. While not truly a launch since the book had already been available through booksellers, it was still a much-anticipated debut.

Catering for the party was provided by Matthew Sganga of Stone Table Cafe and Catering. There is a review for his place at the Charlotte Observer, but we can give you another one. Matthew was introduced to us by our realtor when looking for houses. Tucked away in the Shops at Nottingham is a phenomenal place to have lunch, Stone Table Catering. Matthew is a self-taught, but phenomenally good chef who got his start while working at Wendy's. Now he is preparing food that meets and exceeds the quality we have had while living for a year and a half in France. It was nice to get a chance to chat with him while setting up a great buffet for the party. He was able to incorporate some of the fresh herbs from our garden, and we gave him some extras to use at his restaurant.
